Sausage with hot dog roll and garnish

Sausage on a hot dog roll is a great combo. Whether it’s weekday lunch or dinner after a day in the woods. Of course, sausages are best grilled over an open fire and if you’ve never tried making your own gherkin relish before, you’ll absolutely love it!

  • 4 Sausages with herbs
  • 4 Hot dog rolls
  • 200 g Sauerkraut
  • 1 Red onion
  • 500 ml Roasted onions
  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • Fresh parsley

PREPERATION AT HOME

Step 1

Peel and chop the cucumber into small cubes.

Step 2

Finely chop the peppers, onions and leeks. Place in a bowl with the mustard seeds.

Step 3

Add the sugar, salt, vinegar, and dill to the water and bring to the boil.

Step 4

Add the cucumber mixture and simmer for 10 minutes. The mixture should be thick.

Step 5

Pour the desired amount into a suitable, portable container.

Step 6

The remainder will keep in the fridge for several months if you pour it into a cleaned glass jar.

COOKING OUTSIDE

Step 1

Grill the sausages.

Step 2

Warm up the hot dog rolls.

Step 3

Put the sausages in the rolls with the gherkin relish, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise and roasted onions.

Step 4

Garnish with finely chopped red onion and parsley.

Step 5

Serve with sauerkraut.
